Global mushroom supplements market forecast to reach $8.83 billion by 2031

Explore mushroom supplement forecasts and 18 product listings across 15 brands, including reishi extract formats, material positioning and dose language.

Source review:

Mordor Intelligence forecasts that the global mushroom supplements market will grow from $5.83 billion in 2026 to $8.83 billion in 2031, a compound annual growth rate of 8.66%. That forecast concerns finished supplements. Decisions about coffee, gummies and extract ingredients still need to start with specific products.[1]

Our Amazon research obtained 18 product detail records across 15 brands. The most useful finding is not which mushroom is “hottest,” but how differently products describe their materials and quantities. The sample includes fruiting-body extracts, mycelium with fermented substrate, single-mushroom capsules, coffee with collagen, and gummies containing other botanical ingredients.

The sample: capsules, powders, coffee and gummies serve different purposes

The sample spans five search topics. Reishi extract, mushroom supplement and mushroom coffee cover extracts and drink products.[3][4][5]

Lion’s mane powder and mushroom gummies add powder and gummy categories.[6][7] The comparison covers 18 product detail records across 15 brands.

The 18 records comprise six capsules, four powders, four coffees, two gummies, one clearly identified liquid, and one listing with liquid attributes but capsule wording. Products were selected to examine differences in brands, formats and materials; the counts do not describe Amazon sales shares.

Capsules invite comparisons of formula and serving unit. Powders require a distinction between mushroom material and a finished drink mix. Coffee adds a base, preparation method and other ingredients. Gummies offer a different eating experience, but their total weight must still be kept separate from their mushroom extract content. Format is the first comparison axis; material composition is the second.

Even capsules do not contain the same kind of material

Real Mushrooms red reishi capsules describe a fruiting-body-only extract and state “>25%” beta-glucans. Double Wood reishi capsules explicitly include fruiting body and mycelium, with a stated 1,000 mg of extract per serving and a 4:1 extraction ratio. Both are sold as reishi extracts, but their material claims differ; bottle price or milligrams alone would miss that distinction.[12][9]

Blended capsules show a similar contrast. FreshCap Ultimate lists six mushrooms and uses the blend-level phrase “100% whole fruiting body mushrooms.” Host Defense MyCommunity lists 17 species and describes mycelium grown on organic brown rice, referring to both mycelium and fermented rice substrate. Species count does not establish composition or individual ingredient doses.[14][15]

Two other approaches resist a simple classification. The ingredient attributes for Life Extension’s reishi complex list fruit-body extract and cracked spores. Quality of Life AHCC emphasizes alpha-glucans. Spores should not be relabeled as beta-glucans, and alpha- and beta-glucans should not be combined into one marker.[10][16]

A useful comparison therefore separates species, tissue source, fermented substrate, extraction form and quantity per serving. These fields are not a ranking of efficacy or material quality. In particular, a blend-level fruiting-body statement does not establish the anatomical material used for every ingredient, including chaga.

Reishi mushroom extract market: product formats and material positioning

The material comparison shows three distinct reishi positions within the existing sample: Real Mushrooms emphasizes fruiting-body extract, Double Wood describes fruiting body and mycelium, and Life Extension combines fruit-body extract with cracked spores. These are listing descriptions, not independently verified compositions.[12][9][10] Material identity therefore matters before comparing capsule counts or declared milligrams.

Format adds another commercial distinction. Single-mushroom capsules foreground the extract composition, while Plant People WonderSleep gummies position reishi alongside saffron, GABA and other ingredients.[24] For development, capsule projects need suitable composition and filling performance; drink powders need a balance of flavour, dispersion and ingredient loading; gummies add taste, processing and serving-size constraints. A multi-ingredient sleep-themed gummy is a brand positioning choice, not evidence of a sleep effect from reishi alone.

The broader mushroom-supplement forecast provides category context, while these product observations explain positioning. Neither establishes bulk reishi-extract revenue or market share. Converting retail sales into ingredient demand would require actual unit sales, servings per unit, reishi extract per serving and ingredient prices, with other species and blend ingredients separated.

Powders and coffee: identify what is actually in the serving

Both powders and coffee may be measured by the scoop, but the scoop contains different things. DEAL SUPPLEMENT lion’s mane powder describes fruiting-body and mycelium extract, providing 1,500 mg per half-scoop dose. Om lion’s mane powder states 2,000 mg per serving, but the available description does not specify tissue source. Both products provide serving quantities, but their material descriptions differ in completeness.[22][23]

The four coffees illustrate different formula choices. RYZE medium-roast mushroom coffee states a combined 2,000 mg of six mushrooms per serving, alongside coffee and a prebiotic blend. Everyday Dose combines lion’s mane and chaga with collagen and L-theanine. The first product’s blend mass cannot be divided equally among species; the second is not simply mushroom powder.[17][20]

Four Sigmatic Focus ground coffee separately states 250 mg of lion’s mane per serving and 250 mg of chaga per cup. The listing does not establish that a cup and a serving are equivalent. FreshCap instant mushroom coffee emphasizes instant preparation, a 12:1 extraction ratio and 29% beta-glucans. That percentage does not, by itself, establish whether the denominator is the mushroom extract or the finished coffee.[19][18]

For product development, these differences are more actionable than mushroom count. Ground coffee must work with its intended brewing method. Instant mixes need acceptable dispersion, sediment and flavor. Collagen, prebiotics and other additions each require their own quantity and cost calculations. The weight of the finished drink mix is not the weight of its mushroom ingredients.

Keep 300 mg of extract separate from a 3,000 mg equivalent

Auri Super Mushroom Gummies offer a clear example of dose language. The product bullet states: “each serving delivers a 3,000mg dry-mushroom equivalent in 300mg of 10:1 extract, all in two soft, flavorful gummies.” In other words, two gummies contain a stated 300 mg of extract, expressed as a 3,000 mg dry-mushroom equivalent.[25]

Scroll horizontally, or focus the table and use arrow keys.

RYZE medium-roast coffee2,000 mg combined six-mushroom blend per servingCombined quantity for six mushrooms.[17]
Double Wood reishi capsules1,000 mg extract per servingA 4:1 extraction ratio is also stated.[9]
Four Sigmatic FocusLion’s mane: 250 mg per serving; chaga: 250 mg per cupEquivalence between cup and serving is unconfirmed.[19]

This table compares listing language, not recommended doses. “—” means that the descriptions used here provide no usable value for that comparison. An extraction ratio may explain equivalent-weight labeling, but it does not establish a multiple of clinical effect or a factory’s actual extraction yield.

Plant People WonderSleep gummies combine a 10:1 reishi extract with ingredients including saffron, GABA and chamomile. Their first distinction from Auri’s multi-mushroom gummies is formula composition. A two-gummy serving does not imply the same mushroom quantity.[24]

Liquids need their own units as well. Host Defense reishi liquid supplies dropper instructions and refers to mycelium and fermented rice substrate. Dropper frequency alone does not establish extract mass in milligrams.[8]

What listing text establishes—and what needs another check

Four of the 18 product detail texts contain a numerical beta-glucan claim and six contain an extraction-ratio claim. These are page-text observations: 4/18 and 6/18 respectively. A record without a numerical match is not evidence of a missing label disclosure. Real Mushrooms states >25%; FreshCap capsules and coffee each state 29%.[12][14][18]

The Triquetra page states 70%.[11] Their stated bases differ, preventing a direct comparison of concentration or potency.

Two listings contain conflicting descriptions of material or dosage form within their own title, bullets or attributes. The title for Micro Ingredients lion’s mane powder says “Pure Fruiting Body,” while its product bullets say “entire fruiting body and mycelium.” The Triquetra reishi page has liquid style and attributes but uses “Each capsule” in a product bullet. These conflicting descriptions leave the first product’s tissue source unresolved and the dosage form to which the second product’s 70% applies unclear.[21][11]

Listing inconsistencies do not establish the composition of the physical products. Whether merchant editing, shared variant copy or another page-management issue caused them remains unknown.

The useful next evidence is the complete label for the selected variant and testing documentation that identifies the material and method. Material identity, serving quantity, equivalent weight and marker percentage each need their own check; a larger number in one field cannot substitute for the others.

Brands and channels: one material can become different products

Four Sigmatic’s official Focus ground coffee page describes its coffee product, while its Target assortment page on the brand website lists both coffee and capsules. Focus capsules on Target have their own retailer product page. Together, these products illustrate the brand’s coffee and capsule routes.[27][26][28]

Ready-to-drink beverages offer another development route. Odyssey’s 85 mg caffeine range and 222 mg range show mushroom ingredients used in energy drinks with different caffeine levels. Both are ready-to-drink products shown on the brand’s website.[29][30]

Capsules and beverages can serve different routines. Brand websites have room to explain formulas and preparation, whereas retail packaging needs to make product identity clear quickly. Costing should include the base, processing, packaging, freight, channel deductions and promotions as well as mushroom ingredients. Ready-to-drink production batches also need to fit replenishment cycles. A public retail price does not reveal brand profit or an ingredient supplier’s margin.

Retail sales and the global forecast put product choices in context

The American Botanical Council’s HerbalGram issue 144 reports SPINS data showing 2024 US mainstream retail sales of “mushrooms (other)” supplements at $15,651,639, up 75.8%. Sales in the natural expanded channel were $27,550,554, up 14.4%. Mainstream retail grew faster but remained the smaller of the two channels.[2]

“Mushrooms (other)” includes ingredients such as lion’s mane that are not tracked separately; reishi, chaga and cordyceps are tracked individually. The period is the 52 weeks ended December 31, 2024. The natural expanded channel excludes Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe’s. These figures describe that supplement category, not all mushroom foods, beverages or bulk ingredients.[2]

Within the same mainstream category, products positioned for cognitive health generated approximately $7.65 million, up 114.5%. Focus and cognition are therefore product positions worth examining. The measure remains sales classified by label positioning—not cognitive improvement or consumers’ reasons for buying.[2]

At the global level, Mordor’s endpoints are a $5.83 billion estimate for 2026 and an $8.83 billion forecast for 2031. The report page was updated September 11, 2026; its model note refers to data and insights available as of January 2026.[1]

Choose the material, formula and use occasion together

The products suggest several concrete options. Single-mushroom capsules can focus on material identity and marker specifications. Blended capsules need to explain composition and total quantity. Coffee must succeed on flavor and preparation. Gummies require a workable balance of extract loading and taste, while ready-to-drink products bring packaging, freight and inventory into the calculation earlier.

Ingredient demand can be estimated from actual servings sold: servings sold × actual grams added per serving ÷ 1,000 = corresponding ingredient quantity in kilograms, with production losses and inventory changes handled separately. Use actual addition weight, not a dry-mushroom equivalent; blends also require individual component proportions.

For brands, the commercial test is repeat purchasing and returns after channel costs. For ingredient suppliers, it is specification consistency, batch stability and suitability for the customer’s formula. See the reishi extract product page for supply specifications and the reishi ingredient guide for material and application principles.

Methods in brief

The original Amazon sample was collected on September 15, 2026 using an authorized real browser: five searches and 18 detail-page actions. Each search retained the first ten products returned by the script. Advertising status was not confirmed, so these are not described as organic rankings. Fifty product appearances represented 48 distinct ASINs and 42 analyst-defined candidate families after grouping clearly similar pack-size variants; these are not confirmed Amazon parent ASINs. The researchers first selected 18 families for detail inspection based on brand, format and material differences, then added two previously unselected families from each query in returned order to form a 28-family core set. The 18 details are a purposive sample; 18/28 is not a sampling success rate. Brand-site, Target and supplementary public-HTTP evidence is used separately and does not enter the 18-detail sample, which contains no ready-to-drink products.

This was a review of page text, with zero complete readable-label audits and zero confirmed comparable offers. Consequently, no label-missingness rate or per-serving price is calculated. Four numerical beta-glucan claims and six extraction-ratio claims are observations in the original 18 deduplicated texts, not ingredient verification. Five records had textual or attribute differences: two concerned tissue source or dosage form; three were weight-attribute differences only. These flags are not a market error rate. The supplementary public page for FreshCap coffee contains a dose sentence absent from the original 18 texts and therefore outside the original dose statistics. Product claims, retail sales and publisher forecasts retain separate evidence and denominators.
